Our Franklin digital web design shop strives to create content consistently. Every day is a matter of making changes and improvements that continue to push us up into the best web design in Franklin Tennessee. With our marketing strategies, we are not a black box where we hide everything that we are doing because it is a mystery. Many marketers and SEO tactics do that because they don’t want you to know that it is actually really easy to do the work to help you get ranked. The problem is that it is not that it is hard but that it requires consistency. Extreme, consistent consistency.

Keyword research, consistent writing, and back links. Every SEO strategist that we know actually buys their backlinks so we are really talking about keyword research and writing consistent content. At this point, you may know there is tons of information online about keyword research. It can be a little overwhelming to dive into it because it is complicated and there is so much information with so many directions that you could go. But the key to keyword research (see what I did there) is to find words that you rank for and boost those so that you start getting some wins. Dave Ramsey uses the technique called the debt snowball which basically means pay off your smallest debt to get a win and then use the money from that debt to pay down the next smallest debt. It is not the fastest way to get out of debt because you may have higher interest debt that are adding to the pile but it gives you a win and makes you feel really encouraged to do this – be consistent. Win, help others, and create value and that is what creating content is about.

Over the years we have paid for our own SEO and we have done it ourselves. In the period that we have done ourselves, we have seen better results either because we are more invested in it or because we are able to do it more consistently. Paying someone else to do it is expensive and the volume of content that is written is actually less. By doing it yourself, the quality is generally much higher because you know the material. However, the writing has to be done, so if you’re not doing it all you’re getting behind.

The problem is that every optimization specialist that we have talked to you will tell you about one out of every four articles will be a hit. That means you can pay about $3,000 per month and get about three to four wins per year. This means a large, continued investment is required to get wins. One successful article won’t last long or change your business. While a hit could be massive and, depending on how relevant that content is to you selling your product or service, could still be very highly impactful. In most cases, however, we see that blogs do not directly translate into sales. They are a fantastic means to get people to visit the website and to increase traffic but alone they do not generate sales. We have a recent example of a client where traffic is three times larger on mobile but that extra traffic all generated from blog has generated almost zero dollars in sales. There are a lot of strategies to turn the traffic into sales but the traffic alone is often times, not traffic that will buy. The bounce rate will be high and the quality of these are low.

We can talk about how to turn the traffic into sales but the point of the article is more about consistency. It is not hard to write content if you do it the right way and there are a few tips we can provide.

Tips for being consistent in content marketing

First is making sure that you have a contact calendar in place. When you go to sit down and write the hardest thing is the first words. Generally, when you’re not in the mood to write and you will not see positive effects of it often until months down the road so the feedback loop of gratification does not help to write consistently. But with a contact calendar in place that tells you when you are going to write and what you were going to write about you do not have to think about the topic nor do you have to consider whether you’re on schedule or behind because the catIn many cases we have found behind the contact calendar and outline of the contact can be helpful too. In some cases, it is not needed because the topic is easy and the contacts can just flow. In other cases, knowing exactly what to write about and what order, and how that content can make an impact is more difficult yet with an outline and place it is alleviated and it becomes a lot easier just to fill in the gaps.

As we mentioned before, it is not difficult to do ongoing marketing specifically asked you but it does require consistency. Humans are not required for consistency we’re not built for it. We want some strategy or a trick that may be just the upper hand but in reality, doesn’t require as much work and we want the gratification that doing something positive will give us so that we do it again. Similar to building wealth where every saying financial advisor will tell you to give and save consistently, every single month is the power of compound interest over time that turns that money into wealth – it is the same practice with content and marketing. Consistency and diligence is the key.

I don’t expect all of our clients to be consistent. It does require time, it does require effort, and it requires desire to do it. Not having the time, the ability, or the desire to put in effort does not make anyone a bad business owner – it makes you a busy business owner. That is why we offer the service for our clients so that we can help give your marketing consistency.
